700th ANNIVERSARY OF ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH
Preparations are well under way for the dedication of the High Altar on May 3rd. The Local History Group will be staging an exhibition. If anyone has any pictures of the servicemen who are commemorated on our war memorial please get in touch with me.
THE ARCHIVE
Not all of you know but the Village Archive is housed in cupboards behind the stage in the Village Hall. We have been spending the last few years sifting through all the material that Arthur French donated to the archive. We might have finally completed this aspect of our work and what stands out is the Family Histories. In a future magazine article I will include a list of all the long-standing family names in the village which were researched by Arthur.
We are, of course, recording all the documents and photographs digitally. Ultimately some of this material might be housed in the Hub but we know that people are interested in our photographs so, even though it is early days yet, we are planning to have a big display at our AGM on Monday July 23rd.
PICTURE QUIZ
There were no takers for last month’s puzzle. We’ll see if this month proves equally challenging. Can anyone cast any light on the name of the little girl in the photo or where the picture might have been taken?
