We are pleased to welcome back Dr. Todd Gray to Ipplepen. His talk on MONDAY OCTOBER 21st at the Village Hall will start at 7.30pm. Both members and non-members are welcome and there will be our usual refreshments and raffle. The theme of his talk will be ‘Exeter’s Cathedral Yard Fire and Its Ancient Buildings’. Dr. Gray has established himself as the expert on this topic and he will not only be bringing us up to date with all the information and speculation regarding the fire but also giving us an insight into the historic centre of Exeter.
Arthur French Memorial Prize
The pupils of Ipplepen Primary School will spend some of their lesson time this autumn focusing on history topics and themes. It will form part of their new challenge curriculum and the work will be completed in the week beginning October 14th leading to the presentation of the trophy on Wednesday October 16th.
The Lanterns Procession
As you can see from the poster elsewhere in the magazine this year’s Lantern procession is set to take place on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 30th. We meet at 6.00pm at the Village Hall and the procession leaves at 6.30pm. Every year it gets bigger and better and this year we have the addition of Ipplepen’s Carnival Float which we were all so disappointed to have missed in August. I will have more to say about the Lanterns in next month’s magazine but please note that the first of the Lanterns making sessions at the Hub takes place during the half term break on TUESDAY OCTOBER 29th at the Hub between 10 and 12.30.
