Candlelit Procession
It seems faintly bizarre to be sending out notice of a winter candlelit procession as, at the time of writing, we are enjoying one of the warmest spells of the summer and the carnival week is in full swing. The date for this year’s candlelit procession with its attendant lanterns is Saturday 26th November and there will be much more about this nearer the time.
Dr. Todd Gray
We are pleased to announce that Todd Gray is returning to speak to us on Monday October 3rd at the Village Hall. His theme will be ‘Devon’s Gardens’. Dr. Gray is an historian who has devoted his working life to studying Devon’s past. He has written or edited more than 40 books on the county and has lectured in all of its towns and in nearly every one of its villages. We are sure that many of you will be interested in attending so put a reminder in your diaries or your phones.
Carnival
Once again last month the carnival organisers deserve credit for all their hard work in maintaining and updating this village tradition. Here at the Local History Group we have some excellent photographs that have been donated to us, some of them stretching back sixty years or more. These photographs are always very popular so if you have any at home we would be happy to scan them for our digital archive and then return them to you.
From the archive..
Since the cricket club continues to be successful and has expanded so much at junior level I thought it might be interesting to post a picture of the cricket club from different times.
