July 2016 Newsletter

This is mostly a month of reminders. Our first reminder is our AGM which is being held at the Village hall on Monday July 4th starting at 7.30p.m. Simon Hughes from AC Archaeology will be coming along to talk about the finds from the recent excavations at the Ipplepen Health Centre and some of the artefacts unearthed prior to the completion of the Kingskerswell by-pass. There will be refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about the activities of the group.
I know through our Facebook responses that there are many of you who are really interested in our collection of old Ipplepen photographs. If some of you would like to become more involved in the vital work of preserving a record of our community come along on July 4th and hear more about it.
Living History Project
Another way of helping to preserve a record of our community is via our oral history project. We do have some spoken word recordings in our archive and these are fascinating documents of how life used to be in the village. Our aim is to record some more and we have made a small start on Tuesday afternoons at the Hub with a group of volunteers. If you would like to find out more about this project or perhaps nominate someone whose memories should be heard then you can contact me via the number at the bottom of the page
